While I have looked at letters A-Z, this is only the tip of the iceberg and the beginning of how creativity could work in the classroom. You never know what will happen when you allow yourself and your students to create. It is quite possible that many of our students are highly creative and we need to give them the opportunity to be creative. In my own classroom I plan on trying several strategise that will allow my students to be creative, these strategise could include:
· Allocating time on a regular basis for students to explore their passions using programs or ideas such as genius hour
· Designing outdoor experiences to help students connect to nature and build their sense of place
· Building a classroom environment that all students feel safe and supported in
· Having spaces and materials available for students to create and experiment with
· Giving students choice in how they represent their learning
· Connecting with other professionals to share creative skills
· Giving students opportunity to share ideas and develop them with others
· Recognize that each student will create and learn in their own unique way
· Recommending each student have a journal in which to write, draw or represent the ideas that just pop into their heads.
I have found that through the course of the project I have come up with as many questions as I have answers. Some of my new questions are:
· How will parents react to an increased use of creativity in the classroom?
· How to I bring more creativity to the math curriculum?
· How to I manage my classroom environment when every student is working on his or her own creative projects?
· What how do I structure the physical environment to allow space and opportunity for creativity?
· How does place based learning and time in nature influence student’s creativity?
I have learned over the course of this inquiry that creativity is often unpredictable and can be a very powerful positive force in education. I am looking forward to exploring how creativity can help my students to grow and learn. Creativity can play a key role in our students learning when they are given the opportunity to explore what drives them. I have also recognized even more than before the necessity of allowing myself time and space to create and explore new mediums. I am looking forward to creating with my class and combining all of our collective creative skills to create great things in moments of both large and small c creativity.
