Resources can come from a variety of sources, including libraries, bookstores, newspapers, workshops and most importantly each other. With the prevalence of social media, it is now possible to share resources and participate in discussions with colleagues all over the world. Some of my favourite resources are:
Social Media
Twitter
Twitter allows us to participate in conversations with colleagues from all over the world and see news and other updates in real time. Twitter also allows us to share updates and class photos in real time with our student’s families.
Some of my favourite twitter accounts to follow are:
@TC2thinks
@edtechtalk
@techlearning
@educationweek
@DivisionW
@TED_ED
@BCStuTeach
@CharCron
@AdrienneGear
@bcedchat
@SkypeClassroom
@EMSCarlson
@edutopia
@21stCenturyTch
@MsVictoriaOlson
@Teachinginthe21
Pintrest
Pintrest is another great teaching tool that has ideas for seemingly every topic or skill you can come up with. I have found pintrest to be a great resource when looking for ideas, especially for hands on activities.
Web resources
I have found many valuable web resources. It would be impossible to list them all here or provide an adequate description. When choosing web resources we should be using the same tools for decimation we would for any resource:
1. Who is it by?
2. What authority do they have?
3. When was it published?
4. Is the information up to date?
5. Is it easy to understand?
6. Does it suit what we need it to do?
